Welcome to fighter to writer homepage
It takes guts to be a professional fighter- well it takes even more guts to change one's life. Ben Perlini is best known for being a World Heavyweight contender and the Canadian Champion in 1997-1998. Unusually small for the heavyweight class- this fiery red head of Italian descent was remarkable for his ferocity and aggressive style in the ring. He made a point of taking out his opponents in the first 2 to 3 rounds- often knockouts.
Perlini's career change is a knockout- "I'm writing children's books" he said in February, 2007. He went on to say that he had up to 12 books in development and a fitness book already in print. "I'm trying to get some positive messages across without all the brutality often seen in kids books."Perlini then spoke of the his plan to cross Canada in an RV expousing the values of his 3 steps to success and the need to raise enough cash to pull off a two year agenda.
Ben is selling his winning belt and equipment as memorabilia (bidding's here) at a substantial price as it means alot to him- but mainly as his dream is to follow up on his history of helping kids (step 1- Stay in school, step 2- say no to drugs and alcohol and step3- follow their dreams. The plan involdes buying an RV and going across
Canada a meeting with the kids in all the towns and city schools along the way.
Perlini has got a reputation as an inspired motivational speaker who say's it from the heart. He has been down in the dregs himself and knows what he's talking about.Ben Perlini was able to turn his life around and make it in professional boxing. It is his unique vantage point that really gets the children listening. As he says about the sale of his belt; "I'm trading my dream for a new dream". He seems to be on the right path as he's actively writing children's books and plans on publishing "The Little Red Circle" and other titles this year.
